The Zeeland Islands include the islands in the Dutch province of Zeeland. They are located in the Rhine-Meuse-Scheldt delta in the south-west of the Netherlands. For centuries, these islands could only be reached by boat. Since dams and bridges were built as part of the Delta Plan, all islands have been connected to the mainland. Exceptions are some smaller islands that are not inhabited and some sandbanks that still sometimes flood at high tide.
