Painting, possibly Madame Roland.
Marie-Jeanne 'Manon' Roland de la Platière (Paris, 17 March 1754 - there, 8 November 1793), born Marie-Jeanne Phlipon and known as Madame Roland, was a French revolutionary, salonnière and writer.
She and her husband, the economist Jean-Marie Roland de la Platière, initially led a quiet and unremarkable existence as intellectuals in the province. When the French Revolution broke out in 1789, she became interested in politics. She experienced the first years of the Revolution in Lyon, where her husband was elected to the city council. In this period Madame Roland developed a network of contacts with politicians and journalists. Her analyses of the developments in Lyon were published in revolutionary newspapers.
Adelaide Labille-Guiard (Paris, France April 11, 1749 - April 24, 1803), also known as Adélaïde Labille-Guiard des Vertus, was a French portraitist or painter. In 1783 Labille-Guiard was admitted to the prestigious Académie Royale de Peinture et de Sculpture.
