An Airbus A400M of the French Air Force. The Airbus A400M is a military transport aircraft developed by Airbus Military. On 26 June 2008, the first prototype rolled out of the hangar. The first test flight was conducted on 11 December 2009.
The aircraft was developed by Airbus alongside the Airbus A330 MRTT tanker aircraft and is equipped with turboprop engines. It can land and take off on both paved and unpaved runways. Its primary intended use is for transporting troops, cargo or equipment of an armed force. The A400M replaced the C-130 Hercules in Belgium.
