Pierre Léopold Albert (Albert) Marquet (Bordeaux, France, March 27, 1875 - Paris, June 14, 1947) was a French painter, draughtsman, watercolorist and illustrator. He was a co-founder and important representative of Fauvism.
In Paris, he became friends with Henri Matisse. Henri Evenepoel introduced him to the works of Claude Monet, Paul Cézanne, Vincent Van Gogh, Georges Seurat and others. He was carried away by the color experiments of the Fauvists.
