About ‘Along the White Sands’ by ByNoukk

This artwork shows a vast coastal landscape, with a lighthouse towering over the sea on a rocky platform in the distance. The sandy path in the foreground leads between dune grass and marram plants, towards the surf and the open sea. The sea stretches wide along the horizon, with the waves continuing in gentle lines. The sky is filled with light grey and blue tones that gradually meld and create a sense of spaciousness.

The colour palette consists of off-white, sand, light grey, pastel blue, ochre tones and traces of deeper grey-blue nuances. The sky and sea are built up in layers that flow into each other, with subtle brush textures. The vegetation consists of dry grasses in beige and grey tones, brought to life by streaky brush strokes.

The style of the work lies at the intersection of graphic representation and painterly expression. The canvas shows traces of linen texture, with edges fading outwards, giving a framed but breathing effect.
