About ‘Along the dirt track’ by ByNoukk

This artwork shows a coastal scene in which a lighthouse is on the right, half surrounded by dune grass. The sea is straight ahead, with waves moving layered towards the shore. The surf is calm and wide, the beach gently sloping into the sea. Marram grass is visible to the left and right, spreading in natural lines along the dunes. The lighthouse forms a vertical counterpart within the horizontal whole of sand, water and sky.

The colour palette consists of blue-grey, sand, beige, brown, white and dark blue. The sky shows colour gradients from light to deeper blue-grey, with traces of beige or greyish clouds here and there. The sea has dark water layers and foam heads, the grass has warm ochre tones with blue-grey shadows.

The style of the work is semi-realistic, with elements of painting tending towards texture and blurring. Details are not distinctly sharp, but recognisable enough to keep the shapes legible. The background and sky are looser, creating depth.
