About ‘Alphen aan den Rijn - Archeon statue’ by Frank Smit Fotografie
On the sound barrier along the N11 near Alphen aan den Rijn stands an 8-metre-high, metal, statue called Julius Albanicus depicting a Roman soldier. Unveiled in 2016, the statue represents the memory of the time when the Romans had a settlement here called Albaniane, and thus actually the genesis of the town of Alphen.
