This is a masterful capture of the rare and beautiful 'Alpine glow' or golden hour in the mountains. The peaks of the mountains catch the warm, pink-orange light of the low sun, making them appear to glow against a backdrop of a deep blue, almost cyan-coloured sky. The rest of the landscape, including the foreground of moss-covered rocks and the valley, lies in the cool shadow of dusk, creating an incredible contrast in both temperature and colour. This sharp distinction between warm and cold tones makes this a very vivid and colourful statement-piece.
