The U Bein Bridge, located in Amarapura, near Mandalay, is one of Myanmar's most iconic monuments. Built in the XIXᵉ century, this 1.2-kilometre-long bridge is made entirely of teak, a material from the former royal palaces. Crossing Lake Taungthaman, it is the oldest teak bridge in the world and offers breathtaking views of the sparkling waters.
Visitors flock to see the local life: monks in saffron robes, fishermen at work and street vendors create a lively and authentic atmosphere. The bridge is particularly enchanting at sunrise or sunset, when the sky takes on golden and orange hues, reflecting the magic of this unique place.
As well as its beauty, the U Bein Bridge is a symbol of sustainability and ingenuity. Its history, combining spirituality and Burmese traditions, attracts photographers and travellers from all over the world, fascinated by its architecture and the peaceful atmosphere that reigns there.
Passionate about photography, I travel the world in search of the most beautiful shots.
