About ‘Ameland Lighthouse’ by Gea de Boer
The lighthouse on Ameland is 55 meters high and built in 1880.
Since 2005, the tower is no longer in use by the coast guard and the lighthouse keeper is no longer high up in the tower (cameras now monitor the coastline day and night).
The lighthouse has 15 floors and 236 steps.
