As an Amersfoort native, the Koppelpoort remains for me a place I look at again and again with wonder. On a sunny afternoon, I took my camera along to capture this beautiful city gate once again, this time focusing on its symmetry and surroundings. The sky was bright blue, the light fell evenly over the stone arches and towers, and the water below was almost still, perfect for a peaceful composition. What I like about this image is how the gate emerges not only as a historical structure, but also as a living part of the city. People walk past it, cycle through it, live their lives - and yet it remains a place with character and meaning. This shot feels to me like a visual diary: a recognisable place, but a new face each time.
