An abstract hourglass in the flow of time by ButterflyPix

This artwork reinterprets the classic symbol of the hourglass in a modern, vibrantly coloured and emotionally charged way. The composition combines the idea of flowing sand with an expressive, abstract colour palette that immediately captivates the viewer. The upper section of the hourglass glows in warm shades of orange and yellow, evoking sunlight, energy and the beginning of a new cycle. The lower section, by contrast, is rendered in cool shades of blue, symbolising calm, depth and the passage of time. Between these two poles, the sand flows like a living transition, embodying both the transience and the continuity of the moment.
The background consists of dynamic, powerful brushstrokes in pink, beige, red and orange. These textures create a vibrant atmosphere that not only frames the hourglass but literally sets it in motion. The colours seem to merge with one another, as if they themselves were becoming part of the flow of time. This creates a striking contrast between the clear form of the hourglass and the free, impulsive painting style of the surrounding area.
The work invites us to reflect on time, change and the value of the moment. It appears both meditative and energetic, modern and symbolic – an image that combines emotion and meaning in a vividly colourful form.
