About the artwork

Together with his brother Agostino and nephew Lodovico, Annibale Carracci implemented artistic reforms in Italy based on close observation of the natural world. Annibale's innovative and highly influential style balanced between the smooth artificiality of Mannerism - in which style and technique took precedence over fidelity to nature - and the heightened drama of Caravaggio's paintings. In this remarkable early work, the coarse surface of the canvas, inelegant subject matter and the striking distortion of forms by light falling through glass all speak to his naturalistic approach.

Annibale Carracci (Bologna, 3 November 1560 - Rome, 15 July 1609) was an Italian painter and engraver. In Bologna, with his cousin Ludovico and brother Agostino, he opened the Eclectic School or the "School of Carracci". He was one of the founders of the art movement that became known as the Bolognese School.

Annibale Carracci's works belong to the Baroque, although there is interweaving with classicist elements.

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
