Anthuriums grow in trees or compost rich soil in tropical jungle areas with lots of shade. They are cultivated because of their shiny green leaves and long-lasting inflorescence. They also keep plants in retail bloom by using hormones. This means that the plant, once brought home and no longer exposed to the hormones, returns to normal growth behavior. For this reason, colour change in anthuriums is not unusual.
