In the deer calf, around 8 months, two lumps on the head, the beginning of the rose stalks, start to become visible. The rosek belongs to the skeleton and forms the base on which the antlers are formed. The rosevine becomes shorter and wider every year. A striker still has a narrow high rose pole, in the case of an old deer the rose pole has become so short that the rods are connected to the skull, as it were.
