The central element of this beautiful station is the large imposing staircase leading to the rear of the station and the tracks. In black and white, you can see the many shapes of this extraordinary architecture from 1895: The individual steps, the round arches, the glass arch with the beautiful metal struts above the antique clock, the balustrades and the many small decorations and ornaments surrounding this staircase. You can see the differently arranged floors up to the dome that spans the entrance hall. Especially in the black-and-white photograph, one can also clearly see the light sources: On the one hand, the natural ones via the glass elements and the artificial ones that have been placed on the right, left and behind the staircase at different heights - If you didn't know any better, you might think you were in a castle. In the vernacular, the station is also called the "railway cathedral". Through extensive restoration, the original charm of this building was preserved and later even extended with modern parts, so that today the station accommodates 14 platforms over 3 levels. The picture is also available in colour.
