The photo is straight up and shows the impressive roof of Antwerp-Central station. From this perspective, the grandeur of the architecture is fully felt. The glass and iron vault towers above you like a giant dome of light and steel. The metal arches intersect in graceful patterns, with a precise symmetry reminiscent of the structure of a cathedral or a palace. Between the steel ribs, large sheets of glass allow daylight to flow in, making the roof look bright and open, despite its imposing size.
The straight-up view enhances the sense of height and space. The roof seems to extend endlessly, a combination of technical perfection and artistic elegance. Every detail, from the rivets to the stained-glass elements, adds to the rich historical atmosphere of the station. The sculpture exudes a sense of admiration and wonder, as if for a moment you feel very small under something big, something built to impress as well as inspire. This is not just a roof; it is a monument above the tracks.
