The arctic fox (Vulpes lagopus) is a mammal belonging to the canine family (Canidae). The scientific name of the species was published as Canis lagopus in 1758 by Carl Linnaeus,[2] the species is placed in a separate genus Alopex by some authors. This fox lives mainly on the tundra.
