Framed by a gnarled tree branch the Desert View Watchtower arises near the cliff edge overlooking the Grand Canyon. Walking up to the edge, the wide expanse of the Grand Canyon’s majestic beauty takes one’s breath away. Desert View Watchtower or Indian Watchtower at Desert View is a 70-foot high stone building designed to resemble an ancestral Puebloan watchtower. It is located on the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. The structure was completed in 1932 and was designed by American architect, Mary Colter.
