About ‘Artichoke up close’ by Ronald Smits
The artichoke (Cynara scolymus) is a plant of the composite family (Asteraceae) and is native to the Mediterranean region. The fleshy bracts of the closed flower head are eaten as a vegetable. For this culture, spineless plants are used, which are propagated vegetatively. Looks a lot like a thistle.
