Dramatic much. It used to be that the heaths and wild places were considered hedonistic places where the devil lived. But now we walk in nature to escape the busyness and noises of daily life, and know that a walk in nature can clear the mins and improve health.
The Moerputten bridge in Den Bosch is such a place where windswept wild meets civilisation. It was built as a railway bridge over a peat lake in the 1880's, eventually became a footpath and graduated to rijksmonument in 1995.
If you follow the 5 kilometer walking route, it will lead you to this windswept piece of farmland and waterway looking back towards a distant church steeple. You'll also cross the old railway bridge, as well as wander the wooden paths winding through a swampy forest. Everywhere the reeds and grasses rustle in the wind: stormy, restless, and dark in the late autumn months.
