A portrait of an Australian Water Dragon. The Australian Water Dragon is a typical shore dweller, usually sunbathing on a branch or tree stump suspended above the water. Unlike most other lizards, this species actually likes water and is well adapted to it. When disturbed, the animal jumps into the water, sometimes from a height of several metres. The lizard can stay underwater for more than an hour.
