About the artwork

Collage inspired by the BAUHAUS collective.

Belgian architect-painter Henry Van de Velde had nominated German architect Walter Gropius as his successor on his retirement as director of the Großherzoglich-Sächsische Hochschule für Bildende Kunst in Weimar in 1915. In 1919, Gropius had his school, together with the Großherzoglich-Sächsische Kunstgewerbeschule merged into the new Staatliches Bauhaus Weimar. His programme, both theoretical and practical, was a synthesis of plastic arts, craft technology and industry.

Architects, sculptors and painters, we must all return to craft! For there is no such thing as 'professional art'. There is no essential difference between the artist and the artisan. The artist is a craftsman who surpasses himself. [...] However, no artist can do without the basis of craftsmanship. That is the origin of the artistic process. Mainly under the influence of the Dutch artist Theo van Doesburg, who together with Piet Mondrian had founded the art movement De Stijl in 1917, Bauhaus evolved from expressionism to modernism. That influence was probably decisive.

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers. Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
