In 1985 BMW finally brought out an independent design again, as far as convertibles were concerned, and presented the BMW E30/2C as a four-seater convertible at the IAA in Frankfurt. And this convertible E30/2C confirmed in all things again the slogan of BWM from the "joy of driving". A powerful, as well as suitable for everyday use 3 series convertible, which was available from 1988 also as M3 initially with 195 hp, in 1989 was raised to 215 hp output and later also as Alpina B6 3.5 liters with an in-line six-cylinder, the 254 hp.
