* Tarifa Beach Panorama *
A beautiful summer's day with a wide view of the turquoise blue sea and the white beach of Tarifa in Andalusia / Spain.
Tarifa is located very close to Gibraltar on the Costa de la Luz in the far south of Spain and belongs to the province of Cadiz.
Kiters and windsurfers love this region, and even wind and kite championships are regularly held here.
The reason for this is the two prevailing winds, Poniente and Levante, which provide a particularly constant supply of wind.
The Poniente comes from the west and is predominant in Tarifa.
The Levante is a very warm easterly wind, usually with wind forces of up to 8 and is mainly found in June and July. As it blows diagonally offshore from the beach out to sea, it demands a high level of skill from kiters (running upwind). It is therefore mainly used by windsurfers.
Due to its strategic location on the Strait of Gibraltar, Tarifa has repeatedly been the scene of historic events. Alongside Hawaii and Fuerteventura (Canary Islands), Tarifa is now the venue for world-famous windsurfing and kitesurfing championships.
