Bear in the water.
Brown bears mainly eat plants, such as tubers and roots, which they dig out with their long claws. Sometimes they target easy prey such as cattle or other domestic animals. Brown bears are also at home in the water and can lurk for hours near waterfalls or shallow places in a river waiting to catch a salmon as it migrates upstream to spawn. The bear then jumps on top and paralyses the fish with a powerful bite or a swift blow of its strong legs. Once caught, there is no escape for the salmon. Bears hibernate, at least in cold regions, but this is very light and can be interrupted at any time. Brown bears can live up to 25 years, in captivity even older.
