A beautiful field of Spanish or bastard hyacinths (not to be confused with the native wild woodland hyacinth), one of which was highlighted by shooting with a wide aperture. The setting sun during the golden hour gives the photo its beautiful golden glow and the purple of the hyacinth comes out very nicely.
It is often thought that all hyacinths blooming in the wild are wild woodland hyacinths, but actually it is the Spanish hyacinth that is taking over from the native woodland hyacinth, and so most often you see the Spanish hyacinth or a hybrid of both: the mongrel hyacinth. The difference between the two is hard to tell.
