The legendary Bell UH-1 Iroquois helicopter.
The Bell UH-1 Iroquois is a versatile military helicopter that became known by its nickname "Huey", a corruption of Utility Helicopter, and from the Vietnam War. One can hardly name a support or operational task for which this aircraft has not been used anywhere in the world. In 1962, the Ministry of Defence declared it operational on which the type was assigned the name Bell UH-1 Iroquois. Almost immediately afterwards, it was deployed in the Vietnam War. The aircraft was exported almost all over the world and, besides some military services, it now performs mainly civilian services. The German Army (Heeresflieger) also flew the UH-1D for many years and the Air Force (Luftwaffe) used it for SAR duties.
