The lighthouse of Benodet overlooks the village and the coast. The name of the lighthouse is also called "Feu de la Pyramide" (fire of the pyramid). This name stems from the fact that on the site of the current lighthouse, there was a pile of stones with a fire on top. This served the same purpose, namely to warn ships coming up the Odet from the Atlantic Ocean. Indeed, at Benodet, the river silted up, as it led to an estuary. The passage is narrow, but was and is vital for the supply of Quimper, the Breton town upstream.
