The Barbary macaque or magot is a macaque from the family Cercopithecidae. It is the only macaque found outside Asia, and the only species of monkey living in the wild in Europe, namely on the Rock of Gibraltar. The scientific name of the species was published in 1758 as Simia sylvanus by Carl Linnaeus.
