As the day fades away and evening still hesitates, Vernazza exudes a gentle calm. The warm glow of the street lamps reflects in the water of the small harbour, while the pastel-coloured facades slowly fade into the blue of the evening sky.
High above the rocky coastline, the village seems to lean against the sea - a mosaic of light and silence. The tower of the Castello Doria keeps watch, as it has for centuries, and the waves below whisper stories of fishermen, storms and homecoming.
In this balance between sea and stone, Vernazza displays its most subdued beauty - a moment that seems to stand still for a moment, just before the night takes away its colours.
