The wide landscape of the low mountain ranges, here near the river Sieg in the Rhein-Sieg district, always tempts an artist to set up his easel outdoors. I don't just paint what I see, but I am particularly interested in transoforming the motif in such a way that a certain expression is achieved. So it is a mixture of landscape impression and the search for a painting's own expression. The painter is much less bound to his motif than the photographer, and the possibilities for shaping the image are almost inexhaustible - every tool changes the character of the image.
