Among the surf
Just before the squall broke and I could see nothing more, I photographed this swarm of seagulls. A few minutes later, you could see nothing more.
This photo was taken on the north beach of Scheveningen. I put the tripod in the surf, and used a long shutter speed. This makes the water 'more fluid'.
I take landscape photos'in all weather conditions. The worse the more inspiring. My camera and I just have to be able to withstand it.
Seascapes have always attracted me. Painters such as Anton Mauve, Hendrik Willem Mesdag and Jozef Israels are Dutch painters who, for photographing seascapes, are a great source of inspiration for me.
I try to convey the feeling of the wind in your face. The sand tickling between your toes. The screeching of the seagulls and dark humming that the surf makes to be heard.
Hanging this work on your wall brings a piece of the coast to your home. Get out for a while.
