The new walking and cycling bridge, the Groene Link, connects the urban Rotterdam-Zuid with the newly developed nature and recreation area the Buijtenland of Rhoon and other nature along the Oude Maas. Hikers and cyclists can travel from Rotterdam via a 150-meter-long bridge over the A15 and the Betuwelijn to the 600-hectare new green area.
The Green Connection s designed by Gemeentewerken Rotterdam. The company Van der Horst Holding NV has built the bridge over the A15 and the Betuwelijn for an amount of over € 9.2 million. In June 2014 the bridge was officially opened after a construction period of approx. 2 years.
