De Bierkade in Alkmaar with the Accijnstoren on the left.
De Bierkade is a quay on the edge of the center of the Dutch city of Alkmaar. The quay is on the Noordhollandsch Kanaal. The name Bierkade comes from the imported beer that was put ashore here. On this quay, excise duty was also levied on the same beer in the Excise Tower. The tower was built in 1622 and moved in 1904 to broaden the street.
