About ‘Big Tusker Craig – Amboseli’ by Jos van Bommel

Craig was born in January 1972 in Amboseli, Kenya. He was not only known for his enormous tusks – each weighing over 45 kilos and estimated to be 2.1 metres long – but was also renowned for his calm, unflappable demeanour. He was friendly and serene, and became a favourite among visitors and the Maasai communities who shared his habitat. For many, encountering Craig in the wild was a life-changing experience. Craig became an icon of wildlife conservation in Kenya.
On 3 January 2026, Craig died of old age on the lower slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro.
This photograph was taken in September 2024. It was a privilege to see this "Gentle Giant" in the flesh.

What are the delivery times?

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
