I spotted this birch grove at Terschelling where we were on holiday with the family. I saw this patch of forest and it captured my imagination. I took a picture to use later for the watercolour.
I love birch groves, they remind me of fairy tales. The trees have a beautiful white bark with jagged black spots.
By saving the trees with masking fluid first, after making the background, I was able to give them details one by one.
I am Marina, self-taught. Nature, animals, landscapes, beautiful skies, sunrises and sunsets capture my attention. I love the whimsical, moody and unexpected atmosphere that nature can radiate and enjoy capturing it in watercolour works.
