Maassluis' harbour basin is where the town originated. The Schans bridge can be seen on the left. Between the bridge and the small white house is the Monstersche Sluis around which the first mud huts were placed in 1343. Maassluis separated from Maasland in 1614. Next to it is the Stadhuiskade with in the middle, the tallest building, the Gemeenlandshuis van Delfland. The white building on the far right is the old town hall. Now it is home to the National Tug Museum. On the Stadhuiskade is the ss Furie. The only working steam tug in the Netherlands.
