There are three species of Gannet you can find on the Galapagos: the Red-footed Gannet, the Nazca Gannet Last but certainly not least: the Blue-footed Gannet This last special bird is the first Gannet we encountered and they are stunningly beautiful!
Proudly they stand there with their shiny blue feet. They owe this colour to the pigments in the fish they eat. You can clearly see the health of the blue-footed booby. The bluer the feet, the healthier they are and this is also very important for the females. In the mating season, the males provide a dazzling dance performance in which the females make a strict choice and the males hopefully don't turn blue....
