The federal city of Bonn is a major city in the south of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia on the Rhine. Also known as the second seat of government of the Federal Republic of Germany.
The Federal Quarter with its characteristic high-rise buildings - until 1993 Parliament and Government Quarter - is a district of Bonn and includes the districts of Gronau and Hochkreuz, located on the Rhine. Today, the Bundesviertel has become the hub of several internationally active organizations and large corporations, but continues to be defined by the government institutions that are still located there.
