The huge Buddhist Temple built some time between ad 750 and 850 is one of the countries most iconic attractions and is thought to have been conceived as the Buddhist view of the cosmos in stone, with the circular top section with its stupa's denoting neverending nirvana. Seen from the top platform a large storm develops over the Javan countryside.
