I discovered this harmonious forest landscape with warm spring-like light in the early evening on my way back from the bathing lake on 4 June 2010. The photo was taken with the NIKON D90. For me it was a marvellous walk in the evening light through a pine forest, right next to the Bernsteinsee.
The Bernsteinsee, a beautiful quarry pond with an area of 0.25 km2 and a depth of 25 metres, is located next to a small forest in the Barnim Nature Park.
The Bernsteinsee is a lake near Ruhlsdorf (Brandenburg). The lake can be reached from the surrounding villages of Schönfeld (about 1 km from the lake), Prenden (2 km away) and Marienwerder (about 3 km away). Lake Bernsteinsee is located in the catchment area of Biesenthal, which is around 7 kilometres from the lake.
Bernsteinsee Ruhlsdorf is located in the district of Barnim in Brandenburg between Ruhlsdorf and Marienwerder. The gravel lake has open bathing areas with a sandy beach. There is a lido with several beach volleyball courts on the northern shore. The lake has an area of 27.6 hectares with a maximum length of almost one kilometre.
As is typical for gravel lakes, the water is clear and clean with a visibility depth of around two metres. The water quality was consistently rated as "excellent" from 2014 to 2018.
