Recently, I have spent quite a lot of time at international airports. Some of these have large LCD screens where well-known companies advertise their products. I was fascinated by how many people just pass by these without paying attention.
This photo is one of a series in which I have people go in front of these screens as silhouettes, i.e. anonymously, where then the background is as important as the person in front of it. An image is then created of an anonymous completely artificial world that the airports have become.
The rising bubbles ensure that this person's silhouette is grounded in the black band and rising line. The image provides the connection between person and background, as there does not seem to be any interaction
