The Shwedagon is the most sacred Buddhist pagoda in Myanmar, because it is believed to contain remains of the four earlier Buddhas of the current kalpa. Built on Singuttara Hill, the 112 meter high pagoda dominates the Yangon skyline and will always do so, as by law it should always remain the tallest building in Yangon.
