The red deer is called the king of the Park the Hoge Veluwe. This is mainly due to the impressive appearance of an adult male. The colossal antlers, the impressive neck and the proud posture; the deer has absolutely something royal. At the end of the summer the till then solitary (only) living deer go in search of females. In doing so, they try to impress competitors with a kind of roar: the burling.
