Papilio palinurus is a butterfly from the family of pages (Papilionidae). It is found in the Oriental region. The butterfly with a wingspan of 80 to 100 millimetres has iridescent green reflections on its wings. The colour is created by the special microstructure on the wings, which creates areas that radiate yellow and blue.
This together makes us experience a green colour. The wings can absorb 80% of sunlight, but are also able to cool the butterfly's body when overheated. The underside of the wings is grey-brown. This butterfly species is found in Myanmar, Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines in mountainous regions.
