This photo was taken in Finnish Lapland near Inari. This is the type of house the Sami live in when they herd the reindeer in the fall. The Sami (or Samen) are the indigenous inhabitants of Lapland (Sápmi). Originally a nomadic people of hunters and gatherers. Part of the present-day Sami still live largely on the reindeer they follow on their migration through an area that stretches across the far north of Finland, Norway, Sweden and part of Russia. In the autumn the reindeer are herded together, the Sami then stay in villages with this kind of houses and caravans. And that because the reindeer are also there at that time, very convenient. In winter, the villages are deserted and a beautiful place for atmospheric photos.
