About "Cake = Out"

About the artwork

A steaming cup of coffee on a brightly coloured scene of red, blue and yellow. The text "KOEK IS OP" fills the background - playful and hard at the same time. This work captures the moment when you realise that the energy has run out, that things are just not working out. The cake is literally and figuratively finished.

The inspiration for this painting comes from that recognisable pause between effort and recovery. It is not a lament, but an invitation to rest. The coffee symbolises reflection and routine - that little ritual that lets you land for a while again. The crumbs on the saucer are the remnants of what was: an era, a relationship, a project, a version of yourself.

The style is clearly pop-art: thick black outlines, bold primary colours and direct composition. Yet there is emotion behind the simplicity - an ironic smile mixed with melancholy.

In an interior, this work brings just that: an honest pause in pictorial form. It fits perfectly in workspaces, coffee bars or living rooms where humour, reflection and realism are allowed to touch.

What are the delivery times?

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers. Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
