There are few more endearing creatures than newborn fawn. In spring, the fawn hides in the tall grass. The fawns keep perfectly still, are odourless and completely blend into their surroundings due to their spot pattern. This keeps them safe from their enemies like the fox.
For the first few weeks, their life consists of waiting for a visit from their mother. She comes by several times a day to feed. Then she disappears again to look for food. But she always stays nearby!
