On the west coast of the Outer Hebrids, large stones were erected about 3,000 years ago, in the shape of a circle. They had a religious function. This circle stands on Lewis, the northernmost island of the Outer Hebrids. Today, people come here every year to celebrate the solstice on 21 June.
The light and tranquillity give the stones a mysterious aura.
